I have now read the entire Fic "Beyond the Scope". I truly, truly enjoyed this little gem. I realize it is fiction, and I most definitely enjoy a HEA (especially if it is Edward and Bella), but I must say you most certainly have touched on subjects that are most pertinent and relevant in today's society.
It is so disheartening to see so many young college graduates who have struggled and put forth such effort into gaining a higher education only to be saddled with large debt, no insurance, and often the only prospects for a job are low-paying, and, most of the time, not even remotely related to their field of study. It often seems that these young people have been duped by society into believing that if they worked hard and achieved good grades and secured the diploma, that the world would be their oyster. Unfornately, this has not panned out for many of them.
I don't know if your intention was to highlight a problem, especially here in the US, but I enjoyed how you wove a reality into a beautiful and moving fiction.
I sincerely hope that today's youth will survive this horrible downturn in the US economy, and will someday be able to actually utilize the knowledge that they spent so many years obtaining and will be able to share it--be it as a teacher, writer, artist, etc..
Also, I would like to thank you for also sharing the harsh reality that so many children in today's society face--the fact that many people either turn their backs on their offspring (seeing this happen with more and more women), and thus their responsibility of having having said children. Whether it is through some sort of chemical addiction or lack of maturity many children are either left with one parent or are being raised by their grandparents.
Actually, "Beyond the Scope" would truly be a fiction that could be used to demonstrate to young adults the harsh realities of today's world, and possibly guide them to make better decisions or even to realize the ramifications that their actions can spur.
Well, I'll get off my soapbox now. LOL Anyways truly enjoyed reading this fiction, and I look forward to reading your other Fictions.
PS - I cannot express to you just how much I loved, loved, loved "Breach". Thanks again for sharing your words.
